Parish Priest
Fr. Alexis Kouri is the Pastor, Orthodox Christian Educator, and Pastoral Counselor of St. Michael Orthodox Church. Fr. Alexis was a recent student of the Rollins School of Public Health studying Clinical Pastoral Counseling and Substance Abuse Prevention and Counseling. He is currently a Doctoral Candidate of Emory University. He holds a Master of Divinity from Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology. He is a member of the American Association of Pastoral Counselors. Fr. Alexis is a Life Member of the Order of St. Ignatius of Antioch and a member of the Orthodox Clergy Association of Toledo and the Midwest.
 
Fr. Alexis brings a wealth of education, historical and cultural expertise, vocal distinction and youth work experience to the Louisville community.

Leadership Chairman
Theron Mathis
 
Theron is the Chairman of the Leadership Task Force at OCCHY – St. Michael’s in Louisville, Kentucky.He earned a Bachelor of Science in Youth Ministry from Liberty University, and since has worked with youth vocationally and as a volunteer.During his last year at a Baptist seminary, he stumbled into Orthodoxy, and it opened his eyes to a world he never knew existed. Within a year of graduation, he and his wife were received into the Orthodox Church.

Vocationally, Theron works within the Insurance industry as a sales and marketing manager, but continues working in his parish community.Several years ago, he participated as a translator and note-writer for the Old Testament edition of the Orthodox Study Bible, and most recently published The Rest of the Bible, a guidebook to part of the Old Testament.

As a member of St. Michael’s Orthodox Church in Louisville, Theron has participated in adult and youth education, most recently spearheading the effort to begin an OCCHY chapter at the parish along with submitting an application for a DFC grant.Youth work has become a pressing burden in recent years as one of his sons has entered the world of teens, and his two other boys are not far behind.
